Video – On board with Joey Dunlop at the TT
In 1983, Honda sent V4 factory racers to Europe for the first time – to Honda France for selected races in the Endurance WC and to Honda Britain for the Tourist Trophy. Joey Dunlop swept to victory in their first appearance on the Isle of Man in the prestigious TT Formula 1 race on the aluminium-frame RS850R (the first bikes for the 24 Hours of Le Mans still had a steel frame), setting a new lap record and a race average of 186.21 km/h (114.04 mph) over the 6-lap distance. This two-part video shows a lap on the infamous Mountain Road Course, which is just under 61 km in length. These breath-taking flat-out shots are amazing to watch, but not for the faint of heart.
